Building the Next Generation of Civil Rights Leaders
Every generation inherits the unfinished work of the one before it. The Youth & College Division exists to ensure that young people — especially those from communities most targeted by voter suppression and civic exclusion — are equipped, empowered, and ready to lead.
We don't just teach young people about civic participation — we put them at the center of it. From campus chapters to paid fellowships to legislative testimony, our programs create real pathways from classroom to campaign.

What This Division Provides
Leadership Training
Intensive leadership development programs equipping young people with the organizing skills, civic knowledge, and strategic thinking needed to lead campaigns, build coalitions, and drive policy change.
Civic Education Curricula
Classroom-ready and community-based curricula covering voting rights history, the legislative process, civil rights law, and the tools of nonviolent civic action — designed for high school and college audiences.
Digital Advocacy Skills
Hands-on training in digital organizing: social media strategy, online petition campaigns, data storytelling, and using technology to amplify community voices and reach elected officials.
Public Speaking & Testimony
Coaching and practice opportunities for young advocates to develop their voice — from delivering public testimony at legislative hearings to speaking at community events and press conferences.
Campus Chapter Network
A growing network of student-led chapters at HBCUs, community colleges, and universities — providing peer community, shared resources, and coordinated action across campuses and states.
Youth Advocacy Fellowship
A competitive fellowship placing emerging young leaders in paid advocacy roles — working alongside experienced organizers on real campaigns, policy research, and community mobilization.

The Youth Advocacy Fellowship is a paid, immersive program for emerging leaders aged 18–26. Fellows work directly on active campaigns, conduct policy research, and build the skills and networks to sustain a lifetime of civic leadership.
